At Whitsun, the golden oldies met in Neustadt, the birthplace of the great German designer Max Oertz. There was sailing, celebrations and the inauguration of a memorial to the prominent son of the town on the Bay of Lübeck in classic sailing circles

Around 50 classic yachts adorned the city harbour in Neustadt and invited visitors to the Open Ship - when they were not competing for glory and honour in one of the races held on Saturday and Sunday.

On Whit Monday, the inauguration of a memorial to Max Oertz and the unveiling of a street sign for Max Oertz Square, named after the designer, was a unique event on the programme, which underlined the 20th anniversary of the event in a dignified manner.
