This weekend, the winter meeting of the Friends of Classic Yachts will be the highlight of the non-sailing season for fans of historic boats and yachts. With a symposium on topics relating to traditional boatbuilding on Friday and a colourful evening of lectures on Saturday

The symposium will take place on Friday, 3 February, starting at 2 p.m. in Hamburg, but will also be broadcast on the web. All participation modalities here.

Three subject areas will be examined in more detail in specialist presentations:

  1. Yacht constructions - development of classic yachts
  2. Fit for the future - handling classic yachts
  3. Restoration - Two projects presented

On Saturday, the annual winter meeting will take place in the Miralles Saal at Mittelweg 42 in Hamburg. Admission is from 18:00 h, admission is free, membership and registration are not required.

The organisers describe what the participants can expect:

"Nina Rydahl Andersen comes from Marstal and talks about her life as the daughter of boat builder Ebbe Andersen. The Rhine Week, Europe's oldest and largest river regatta, celebrates its 100th anniversary and organiser Bernd Deertz will provide some great insights. Then we will go on a spectacular trip around the world with Michael Sinzel and his Oertz yacht. Tom Nitsch will present an exclusive film and the Irish folk live band 'Wide Range' provides the atmosphere, as does a maritime ballad by Tommy Loewe."
