Dragons, Schärenkreuzer, dinghy cruisers, national cruisers and of course the traditional Chiemseeplätten met at the weekend at the Bayerischer Löwen des Chiemsee Yacht Clubs Prien, where nobody roared like a lion, but many fought hard for the coveted regatta silver.

Vincent Hoesch, the Bavarian sailing legend, was at the start and first to cross the finish line in the 15-metre skerry cruiser. According to photographer Nico Krauss, the atmosphere was great, characterised by committed sailors who were ambitious but also had a lot of fun as they got down to business at the beautifully situated club with a view of the mountains and sometimes very gusty winds sweeping across the field.
