As an outstanding speciality, the hulls of all Bali Catamarans boats are laminated as a continuous platform from the stern all the way to the bow. This means that there is no trampoline between the hulls at the front, but rather a solid construction with an integrated front cockpit. The catamaran builders in Canet-en-Roussillon in the south of France are also sticking to this general construction plan for the brand new model that has now been announced.
Under the name Catsmart, the new entry-level model from Bali is now being presented as a possible alternative to the only slightly larger but somewhat wider Catspace (YACHT 24/2020 test). The most obvious distinguishing feature of the new Catsmart is the two helm stations integrated into the rear of the hulls. The Bali Catspace, on the other hand, is steered from an elevated steering position at the side. The hulls of the Catsmart are now obviously somewhat narrower and less voluminous.
The rig of the Catsmart is also positioned approximately in the centre of the overall length on the coachroof. This means that the self-tacking jib remains the standard in a still reasonable size, plus a fairly slim battened main with a sporty square head. And: because of the two steering positions at the rear of the deck, the main boom is set low and is driven close above the coachroof. Unlike the Catspace, the new Catsmart no longer has a sun lounge on the flybridge. Overall, the concept of the new boat is sportier than its sister model and promises a higher performance potential.
The cockpit with the large table and the saloon with the large galley are functionally linked, with the exterior and interior forming a single unit. As with all current Bali models, the deckhouse on the new Catsmart can be completely closed off if required. To do this, close the sliding windows on the side and the rear wall of the deckhouse. This remains open and folded up like a garage door under the fixed bimini, as with all current Bali models.
New and exciting is the option for owners to have both hulls fitted out with a large double cabin with office and en-suite bathroom in the foredeck. This two-cabin version is exclusive to Bali in this class. Other variants provide for three or four cabins with two bathrooms. The possible layouts are shown below in the picture gallery.
Bali Catamarans has also already named a price for the new Catsmart: the boat will cost 353,200 euros at launch, including 19 per cent VAT. The world premiere has been announced for the major boot trade fair in Düsseldorf in January 2023.
