The manufacturer promises that fingerprints, dust, streaks, paw marks and even bird droppings can be removed "effortlessly". And above all quickly: washing, drying, preserving and polishing usually takes a lot of time. With the gloss sealant spray, however, everything should now be very quick: spray on, wipe off, done.
The detailer is suitable for paints, gelcoats and glass-fibre reinforced plastics - water then runs off treated surfaces and new dirt has a harder time breaking through. The pump spray bottle does not contain any flammable aerosol, so you can safely take it with you on your boat even in summer. 500 millilitres costs just under 18 euros.
"Detailing is extremely intensive boat care down to the last detail," says Dieter Otto from Liqui Moly. "Care enthusiasts will be happy with it and so will pragmatists, because a great result is achieved with comparatively little effort," explains Otto. However, detailers are not to be confused with or equated with wax. However, the durability of a wax can be extended by using a detailer.
Yes, there are now also spray waxes, and the basic chemical formulation is similar. However, detailers contain a higher proportion of cleaning surfactants, says Liqui Moly, they are intended for quick cleaning between uses and work on both dry and damp surfaces. "If the boat is still wet with morning dew, simply spray the paint and wipe it off with a cloth," advises Otto. The type of cloth used also has an influence on the result.
Liqui Moly was founded in 1957 and develops and produces exclusively in Germany. The company sells its products - engine oils and additives, greases and pastes, sprays and car care, adhesives and sealants - in 150 countries and generated a turnover of 733 million euros in 2021.
However, there are also alternatives to Liqui Moly's Marine Detailer on the market. For example, AllorA Quick Detailer AP 600 - a spray-on gloss care spray which, according to the manufacturer, is designed to simultaneously clean, seal and preserve smooth surfaces "with nanosilicones specially developed for this purpose". According to the data sheet, it is suitable for all painted surfaces as well as chrome, plastic, glass, GRP, rubber, aluminium and acrylic. The one-litre bottle is also available in the online shop for around 18 euros. Further information >>
A little more expensive: the Gelcoat Detailer Spray from the manufacturer Alpha Marine Pro for just under 24 euros, a synthetic gloss enhancer which, according to the manufacturer, is based on "hydrophobic polymer technology" and is also suitable for glass, hard interiors, uncoated and waxed surfaces.
