Focus on sustainabilityPhoto: Messe Düsseldorf / tillmannFocus on sustainability

The new sustainability forum called"Blue Innovation Dock" (BID) in Hall 10 is intended to set international standards. The Association of the European Boating Industry (EBI) is also in the BID boat. On all nine days of the trade fair, entrepreneurs, scientists and politicians will address the pressing issues surrounding the maritime future. "With the BID, we are giving topics such as sustainability, alternative fuels, the circular economy, the use of alternative materials in boatbuilding and non-governmental organisations a forum to present themselves to a broad public," promises EBI Secretary General Philip Easthill.

During the nine days of the trade fair, the BID will present a different panel topic each day: To kick things off on the first Saturday, the focus will be on the dialogue between politicians and the boating industry. On Sunday, everything will revolve around the challenges facing decision-makers and the industry when it comes to using sustainable drives. International start-ups and their innovations are the topics on Monday. The composition of the fuels of the future will be discussed on Tuesday. Sustainable materials for a circular economy will be presented on Wednesday. On Thursday, the BID will focus on sustainable tourism and water sports. Current technical innovations for greater sustainability will be the main topic on Friday. On the second boot Saturday, players from well-known NGOs will introduce themselves to the public. And finally, marine activists and boaters will answer questions from the public on the last day of the fair.

The presentations and discussion panels can be followed live on site and on the trade fair website.
