It is now certain: boot Düsseldorf 2021 will not take place. Due to the ongoing pandemic and the associated global lockdown measures, the trade fair management has decided to cancel the water sports trade fair on the Rhine for 2021.
According to Wolfram N. Diener, CEO of Messe Düsseldorf, it is no longer possible to hold the event on the planned alternative date from 17 to 25 April under the current circumstances:
"The continuing high level of infections and the fact that the end of the lockdown is not in sight for the time being make a resumption of trade fair operations at the end of April seem increasingly unrealistic. We have reassessed the situation with our partners and have jointly decided to cancel boot 2021 early. Our priority is the health and planning security of our exhibitors, visitors and service providers. All activities will now focus on the successful realisation of boot 2022."
According to current planning, it will not take place again until 2022 on the usual date at the end of January - from 22 to 30 January 2022.
The now definitive cancellation was followed by the Postponement to April which met with a mixed response. Most recently, the fair had to be cancelled with the Cancellation by the Beneteau Group However, the event suffered a severe setback. Without Beneteau's participation - the group owns twelve brands, including Jeanneau, CNB, Lagoon and Excess - the trade fair would have had to take place without the largest yacht exhibitor. Other manufacturers such as Hanseyachts, Oyster, X-Yachts and Grand Soleil had also already cancelled their participation.
Boot Tulln 2021 cancelled, catamaran trade fair postponed
The Austrian boat show, Boot Tulln, will also not take place again until next year due to the pandemic. The organisers have postponed the date to 3 to 6 March 2022.
"Unfortunately, it became apparent at the start of 2021 that the current infection figures were not declining and the latest developments surrounding the Covid-19 mutation offer no prospect of an improvement in the current situation by the beginning of March. As trade fair organisers, we have to take this situation into account," the decision is explained.
However, the multihull trade fair in La Grande Motte, France, has been postponed to a later date. It is now scheduled to take place from 28 April to 2 May 2021.
