The vote for Europe's Yachts of the Year is being held for the 20th time. Here are the candidates for the anniversary Oscars. The winners will be announced during boot Düsseldorf

All new or significantly revised boats from the current model year are eligible for the Yacht of the Year nomination. The number of newcomers varies between 50 and 70 and are recorded in a separate database. Every year in June, the jurors jointly filter the most interesting representatives in the respective categories from the possible candidates. This is followed by two test events at which the candidates are compared and assessed. The first round took the jury to La Rochelle at the end of September. The second, even more extensive test followed in October off Port Ginesta near Barcelona. It lasted a whole week. As always, the winners are chosen at boot Düsseldorf in January.

Here we present the candidates in the 5 categories:

Special boats

Ace 30

A Mini 6.50 - too small. The Figaro 3 - too selective. A new Class 40 - far too expensive. If you seriously want to sail ocean racing single-handed or double-handed in one of the most popular classes, you either have to be rich or willing to compromise, preferably both. At least until now. Faced with this dilemma, Antoine Manfray has designed a powerful nine-metre space-sheet racer: the highly interesting and entertaining Ace 30

Astus 22.5

Small ship, great variety. The Astus 22.5 trailerable trimaran impresses in the YACHT strong wind test under sail and in the harbour with its high level of functionality

The small trimaran can withstand a lot of pressure. The centre hull sometimes comes out of the water a little. However, the tripod remains easy to control

Ecoracer 25

Award-winning and regatta-successful sports boat from Italy. The hull is made of flax fibre with a recycled foam core and can be recycled
