The takeover of the marina on the southern Italian coast marks the conclusion of a process lasting several years, during which the Marinedi Group had already secured the operation and development of the harbour.
With over 600 berths, Marina di Brindisi is one of the most important marinas on the Adriatic and was already part of the Marinedi network. By acquiring a majority stake, the Group is now consolidating its position in this important region.
The Marinedi Group's intervention came at a critical time for the marina in Brindisi. Following the insolvency of the previous majority shareholder, the state licence was in danger of being revoked. Thanks to the intervention of the Marinedi Group, this was prevented and a growth process was initiated instead.
In just three years, the port recorded an impressive increase in turnover of over 90 per cent. Capacity utilisation rose to more than 80 percent - also as a result of refurbishment measures.
Today, the marina can accommodate yachts with a total length of up to 90 metres. Thanks to its modern infrastructure, it is a hub for international yacht tourism. The Marinedi Group plans to build on these strengths and position the harbour as a central hub for the lower Adriatic and the Ionian Sea.
With full control and financial security, the Marinedi Group can now realise long-term development plans for the marina. One focus is on expanding the berths, particularly for mega yachts.
In addition, the presentation of a major renovation project, which is being developed together with the municipality of Brindisi and the harbour authority, is planned for the coming months.
The Marinedi Group, founded in 2013, has quickly developed into the leading network of marinas in the Mediterranean. With the acquisition of Marina di Brindisi, the Group's portfolio now comprises more than 5,700 berths spread across 14 Italian harbours.
Renato Marconi, CEO and founder of the Marinedi Group, expressed his satisfaction with the acquisition: "We are proud to welcome the Marina of Brindisi to the Group. This acquisition marks the completion of a process that has made it possible to secure the future of the harbour concession company and ensure its development."
Claudio Gorelli, Chairman of Marina di Brindisi: "As a fully-fledged member of the Marinedi Group, the marina will continue to benefit from the Group's experience and expertise. In addition, the harbour will be able to continue on its growth path thanks to operational and commercial synergies."
