Isolated somewhere in the middle of nowhere. Better to be well prepared
Completely independent of the outside world on a yacht? Is that possible? No, but almost. And it's actually pretty good. An overview shows what you need to bear in mind

Of course, the first thing you think of is the power supply. How can it succeed? And what is the best way to store the juice from the sun and wind? The question is: How can food be stored and prepared? Do solar cells provide enough power for induction cooking, for example? Does it make sense to have a freezer on board?

Where does the drinking water come from? How does it get warm below deck when it gets cold outside? And where do we put the rubbish? There are not satisfactory answers to all questions today, but there are some. The overview presents them and provides food for thought for all those who would like to be able to hide away on board.

Information on the necessary equipment for longer periods on board can be found in YACHT 11/2020, which will be available from newsagents from 13 May. Order from the comfort of your own home here.
