Although the scooters in the Stæp series from Gomate are not significantly smaller than a high-quality folding bike weighing 7.5 to 8 kilograms, they are considerably lighter and can be set up in a flash. Both the 16-inch front wheel and the 12-inch rear wheel have pneumatic tyres, which together with the sprung footboard should ensure a comfortable ride. According to the manufacturer, the comparatively large wheels should also be able to cope with gravel paths.
High-quality aluminium components manufactured in Germany are designed to ensure a stable and durable construction; they allow a maximum load of 120 kilograms. The scooter can be ordered with up to three joints, giving it a packing size of 70 x 60 x 30 centimetres suitable for a back box. Another special feature is the hydraulic disc brake system, which makes even long downhill rides a breeze.
If the scooter is too sporty for you, you can opt for the ER version. Here, a 250-watt motor in the rear wheel replaces the foot pedal. Depending on the approval, the electric drive accelerates the scooter up to 25 kilometres per hour. The range is specified as 35 kilometres.
The simplest version of the Stæp starts at 729 euros. The triple-folding model is available for 829 euros, and the electric version costs at least 1600 euros.
