Together they ensure sufficient voltage on board: AGM lead-acid and lithium batteries
One metal is particularly heavy, the other light. Together they ensure a long-lasting and therefore favourable power supply on board. How does it work? The overview, now available as a PDF download

Lithium batteries charge quickly, but do not like to give up their charge so quickly, at least if they are to remain affordable. Lead, on the other hand, charges slowly, but can release the charge again quickly if required, depending on the battery type. Capabilities also differ when it comes to cycle stability. Lead does not like cycles, but it can absorb and hold a charge very well and for a long time. Lithium likes to be used often.

The idea is now to use the lithium batteries to cover the many short cycles that a battery undergoes on board, while the lead-acid battery storage is used for large currents or high demand. The article published in YACHT, issue 10/2021, explains how this works in detail and what you should look out for, can be ordered directly here.
