Gas barbecue for on board
Less mess, quicker to use and suitable for cooking meat and vegetables on deck or on the bathing platform: Gas instead of coal offers advantages

Admittedly, the barbecue season is actually over. But since some owners keep their boats in the water even in winter, why shouldn't they barbecue on board? And if the boat is already in the shed, then the Cadac gas barbecue is an early gift recommendation. It is immediately up to temperature, produces no ash and no smoke.

Gas barbecues are becoming increasingly popular among sailors. We recommend the Safari Chef 2 from the manufacturer Cadac. The barbecue weighs 3.6 kilograms, has a usable surface area of 30 centimetres in diameter, is just under 40 centimetres high and can be packed up small thanks to its folding legs. A 500 gram threaded cartridge is connected or, in the low-pressure version, the gas cylinder on board. With a grill grid, grill plate, pot stand and lid/wok combination, the barbecue is already multifunctional as standard.

It was tested in YACHT 22/2019 and awarded five stars. Functionality and pack size are right. Accessories include a plancha plate, paella pan and pizza stone. The barbecue works perfectly, is easy to store and keep clean. As a result, it is preferred and used more often than a coal-fuelled appliance. The Safari Chef 2 costs 130 euros, the threaded cartridge 5.95 euros, for example. available at Amazon .
