Important on cold days: a hot tea at sea.
They save many a night watch and keep the morning coffee warm until the afternoon. We have tested 18 jugs for suitability on board - now available as a PDF download

The thermos flask is like Uhu, Tesa or Tempo: it is a brand name, but it is synonymous with the whole genre; the neutral term is vacuum jug. Around 100 years after the first thermos flask, there is a whole range of similar products. Their prices range from 7 euros to more than ten times that amount. Do they keep you ten times as warm?

Our test was based on the Euronorm 12546-1 "vacuum jugs for household use". This standard differentiates between vacuum jugs, "generally with a handle", and vacuum flasks, which have a narrow pouring opening. Only the latter must have a tight seal. However, we also analyse the tightness of the lid for both variants, as this is of crucial importance for on-board use.

Which jug keeps you warm best and which has the best price-performance ratio? Find out in YACHT 16/2018, available in the DK shop or download the test directly via the link below.
