Electronics meets optics: binoculars with image stabilisationPhoto: Hersteller
Binoculars with image stabilisation
Can you still see a relatively steady image through binoculars when everything is shaking? This should be possible with the new binoculars from Fujinon. But the electronics have their limits

The TS 12x28 from Fujinon is a pair of binoculars with integrated stabilisation. The TS stands for Techno Stabi; the electronic system is designed to display images magnified twelve times without wobbling and to compensate for fluctuations of up to plus/minus 3 degrees. The field of view (FOV for short), i.e. the width of the field of view at a distance of 1000 metres, is 73 metres.

The battery lasts up to twelve hours. An automatic function automatically switches off the electronic stabilisation after ten minutes so that the power reserves are not accidentally used up. The specially coated lenses are designed to deliver sharp images even in difficult lighting conditions, such as at dusk.

Measuring 149 x 108 millimetres, the binoculars are made of glass fibre-reinforced plastic and are designed to protect the optical components particularly well against harmful environmental influences. The TS 12 x 28 weighs 420 grams and costs 790 euros.
