Vik 3.8 is the name of the one-person folding kayak from Berlin start-up CLR Outdoor. It is made from one piece and is completely foldable. This is made possible by special polypropylene web panels. This material ensures that the kayak is not only extremely robust, but also lightweight. Two magnetic Fidlock and ratchet fasteners at the bow and stern secure the boat during assembly. Two frames made of anodised aluminium, which are fixed with Velcro, provide the necessary stability.
There is still room in the bow and stern to store small day luggage. Of course, it is no substitute for a dinghy, but kayaks offer much more fun when it comes to exploring the surroundings of the anchorage or harbour. The Vik can be set up in two minutes and folded up again just as quickly. With a total weight of 10.2 kilograms, the manufacturer claims it is the lightest folding boat on the market. When unfolded, it has a length of 3.80 metres, which should ensure good sailing characteristics. The pack size is 70 x 55 x 16 centimetres. Another special feature is the integrated rucksack system. The seat and backrest become a comfortable carrying aid when packing the boat.
The price for the Vik 3.8 is 1,589 euros. A paddle is not included in the scope of delivery. Depending on the manufacturer and requirements, you will have to invest between 90 and 300 euros for a suitable folding model.
