Background
Linie Aquavit is named after the Norwegian word for the equator. The story began by chance in 1807: the Norwegian schooner "Trondhjems Prove" brought back a few barrels of aquavit that were left on board after a voyage around the world. The contents had gained so much expressiveness en route that the maturing voyage became the norm. To this day, Linie travels once around the world for its flavour - this is guaranteed by the state. The dates of the voyage and the name of the ship are printed on the back of the front label of every bottle, confirming the Linie maturation voyage.
