HSH Nordbank, the new sports and culture partner of Kieler Woche, is taking centre stage in an innovative way.
The main sponsor of the sailing event has set up a Race Repair Service (RRS) for the regatta sailors, which will be on the water as a breakdown service. The assistance service applies to all sailors on the outer lanes B, C, D and E.
HSH Nordbank provides mechanics and two boats for each race, who are out on the fjord to assist the sailors at all times. Until now, a torn rope or a broken shackle often meant that the sailors had to give up before the starting signal. Anyone requiring assistance to repair minor damage can contact the RRS via the functional boats (recognisable by the orange RRS flags) or via the launching vessel by radio or by telephone on 0172/422 33 44. The two highly motorised tenders are then immediately on hand to carry out repairs so that the boat is back in shape before the start.
