The world's biggest sailing event celebrates its anniversary from 16 to 24 June.

125 years ago, the crews of 20 ships met on Kiel's inner fjord to organise a sailing competition. Today, this has become the largest sailing event in the world, with around 1700 crews now taking part.

Three million visitors, 4,200 sailors, 1,700 boats, 500 starts, 50 nations and 30 classes - these are the key figures for Kiel Week. The largest sailing event in the world is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year. The sailing event, together with the largest public festival in Northern Europe, is opened by Peter Harry Carstensen and the President of the International Sailing Federation Isaf, Göran Petersson.

All the latest news about Kieler Woche, a detailed interview with the 20-time head of organisation and honorary citizen of Kiel Otto Schlenzka, dates and also a look back at the 125-year history of the event can be found in the new YACHT.
